Essay

This dissertation substantiates the theoretical and methodological foundations for the development of state policy regarding the activities of Orthodox churches and offers scientific and practical recommendations for its conceptualization in the context of securing the national interests of the Ukrainian people in the realm of socio-religious and church-state relations. The conceptual and categorical field of socio-religious relations and state policy has been analyzed, highlighting its role within the thesaurus of the social sciences. The conceptual and categorical apparatus in this sphere has been further developed by clarifying the essence of such terms as “religious security,” “state policy regarding the activities of Orthodox churches,” and “confessional war.” Additionally, a proposal is made to unify the terminology of state policy in the confessional sphere, particularly regarding such concepts as “the right to freedom of thought and religion” (Article 35 of the Constitution of Ukraine) and “the right to freedom of conscience” (Law of Ukraine “On Freedom of Conscience and Religious Organizations”).
