Shukai O. The concept of national history through the prism of women's fate in Ukrainian literature of the early 21st century (based on the novels of M. Matios, O. Zabuzhko, V. Lysa)

The dissertation presents, for the first time in Ukrainian literary studies, a comprehensive study of the concept of national history through the prism of women's fate in Ukrainian literature of the early 21st century based on the novels of Maria Matios, Oksana Zabuzhko, and Volodymyr Lys. The work embodies the idea that these works depict the features of a specific historical era through the prism of images of women who act as its embodiment and symbols. The study identifies the features of the trauma novel, socio-psychological, family (family saga) on a historical theme, and based on this, the thesis is argued that the novels by M. Matios «Sweet Darusya», «Almost Never the Other Way Around», O. Zabuzhko «Museum of Abandoned Secrets», V. Lysa «Solo for Solomiya», «Land of Bitter Tenderness» are synthetic genres written on a historical theme, which combine the image of a private female history in combination with the experience of the past, which is traumatic, since they are about the destructive Ukrainian experience of the 20th century: wars, famines, the cynicism of the totalitarian Soviet system, its anti-human ideology. These works represent an artistic understanding of historical narratives, which are realized through female images as the embodiment of the era; the interpretation of past events is based on the author's understanding of history.
