World War II and the process of post-war economic recovery are extremely important as part of our national historical memory. The current period of Ukraine's national history is characterised by growing public interest in the process of Ukraine's economic recovery and the resources used to achieve it. Unfortunately, for most people, war is associated with destruction and decline, but this scientific work aims to highlight another side of war – technical achievements made during World War II, which were used to restore the national economy. Some of the cruelest battles of World War II took place on the territory of the Ukrainian SSR. The occupation and scorched earth tactics used by both sides during their retreat led to enormous human and economic losses beyond calculation. However, it should be mentioned that one of the factors contributing to victory was scientific and technological advances driven by military needs. Although this issue requires detailed analysis, the impact of the Lend-Lease programme on accelerating technological progress and boosting Soviet industry is equally important. The study examines the key technical achievements of the USSR during World War II and highlights their role as one of the factors in the victory over the enemy. Military-technical achievements were the main factors that contributed to the rapid reconstruction of the national economy of the Ukrainian SSR, completely destroyed by the outbreak of war and the evacuation of facilities to the east. A characteristic feature of World War II was that almost all military achievements were subsequently adapted for peaceful purposes, enabling countries to rebuild their national economies. Scholars have largely focused on wartime military and technological achievements, while the period of post-war reconstruction has not been analysed in depth. In historiography, individual issues were usually considered from the point of military achievements, while reconstruction was treated as a separate process. Unfortunately, the contribution of military engineers to civilian technology received poor attention. After World War II, the military-industrial complex concentrated all scientific, technical and industrial potential in the USSR. As a result, it became the driving force behind the country's economic recovery. Unfortunately, the ambitions of the Soviet authorities prevented the proper restoration of the national economy.
