The dissertation research analyzes, in the context of multidimensionality, the typical features of Ukrainian memoirs as an important cultural-historical phenomenon and a monument of the national manuscript and book heritage. Their vast quantitative, genre, and thematic range remains largely unexplored and unsystematized by domestic book scholars and bibliographers, necessitating a thorough historical and bibliographic study. In the dissertation, the concept of the "Ukrainian memoir tradition" is understood as a cultural-historical phenomenon that originates from ancient times and continues to the present day, encompassing the development, preservation, and existence of diverse memoir texts in Ukrainian territories. This tradition has been shaped by historical epochs, socio-political conditions, cultural needs, and national priorities, playing a crucial role in transmitting historical experience, preserving national memory, and contributing to the formation of identities in Ukrainian society. Historiographical analysis reveals the main approaches to studying memoirs, including historical-bibliographic, historical-source studies, literary, cultural, and informational-communicative perspectives. The latter has gained particular relevance in light of contemporary technological changes that have led to significant transformations in the humanities (Digital Humanities). The research is based on memoirs published in periodicals that brought together representatives of the national intellectual elite, which added special significance to these publications. Memoirs played a crucial role in the political and cultural development of the country, reflecting the views of social groups and the interaction between individuals and society. To explore the continuity of the Ukrainian memoir tradition, the study analyzes the most important, iconic, and representative memoir texts that illustrate the inherent features of the Ukrainian memoir tradition as a multidimensional cultural-historical phenomenon and a vital component of national cultural heritage. Key markers that reveal the specificity and potential of the memoir phenomenon in different historical periods have been identified: genres, authors, intentions, «heroes», types of communicative connections, and thematic directions. This approach has enabled the identification of the main stages of the evolution of Ukrainian memoir writing, its characteristic features, and its European context. The study defines the early modern period (the Cossack era), the period of the Ukrainian national revival (the first half of the 19th century – early 20th century), World War I and the Ukrainian Revolution (1917–1921), and the struggle between national and Soviet discourses in the Ukrainian memoir space (1920s–1930s). Overall, the evolution of the Ukrainian memoir tradition reflects significant socio-political changes that determine the composition of authors, intentions, themes, and genre characteristics of memoirs, as well as their role in shaping historical consciousness and national identity.
