Stanko D. English fan fiction as a phenomenon of secondary communication

The research presents a comprehensive analysis of English fanfiction as a phenomenon of secondary communication in structural, semantic, linguistic and pragmatic dimensions. The main goal of the work is to identify the specific features of fanfiction, which are manifested through the transformation of traditional literary forms under the influence of mass culture and digital communicative practices, as well as to establish the mechanisms of its interaction with original primary sources. The work substantiates the scientific feasibility of establishing the direction of fanfiction linguistics as a field that studies the written communicative creativity of fans in the digital environment. The main stages of the development of English fanfiction are systematized and its characteristic features are determined. The specific characteristics of fanfiction as a secondary communication phenomenon are established, the correlation between canon and fanon are defined, and the terminological system of fanfiction is analyzed. Terminology in the field of fan fiction is quite exclusive, “encrypted” for an outsider who is not involved in the corresponding communicative community. It develops due to the active creation and dissemination of new words among fans, their codification on online resources and frequent use in fan fiction texts, reviews and blogs. Discussion of meta-aspects of fandom contributes to the creation of new categories and terms, and the adaptation of existing words for the specific needs of fan fiction makes it easy to convey complex concepts. In addition, creativity and wordplay in inventing new terms make them an important part of communication in fandom. The paper analyzes the thematic composition of texts of popular fandoms using quantitative methods. The thesis creates a systematic catalog of texts by selected fandoms with a reflection of their megatext parameters. The research explores the role of megatext elements, such as rating, pairing and genre affiliation, in the formation of typical plots. The typology of actants in fan fiction has been identified and their correspondence to the images of the original works has been established, and the influence of the canonical source on the construction of plot schemes has been assessed. The study has shown a close connection between the canon and the fanon in such aspects as age restrictions (for readers), size and orientation to the original, while deviations from the canon are more noticeable in genre categorization. Repetitive motifs and plot lines become the basis for the fanon, and stable fanon stereotypes can take on the role of a model, so to speak, a canon for other fanfiction and even be included in the author's picture of the artistic world of the original source, provided that the creators of the original approve it (provided that they exist in the present tense). Typical plot-compositional constructions of fan texts have been classified. The paper conducts a linguostylistic analysis of English fan fiction in terms of lexical, grammatical, and stylistic aspects and identifies motivational and semantic features inherent in the phenomenon of fan fiction The digital environment in which fan fiction develops plays a decisive role in the formation of new communicative practices. Modern platforms - specialized sites, blogs, forums and social networks - provide a wide range of opportunities for publishing works, commenting on them and interacting between authors and readers. This results in constant content updating, which stimulates the process of collective creativity and contributes to the emergence of new genre and stylistic trends. The analysis of digital communication has made it possible to establish that the interactivity and openness of these platforms create conditions for the transformation of the literary canon and the formation of unique inter-fandom plots. The results of the study indicate the complex nature of English fan fiction, which combines elements of traditional literary creativity and innovative digital practices. It was found that fan fiction is not only a reflection of the original work, but also an autonomous phenomenon that meets the needs of the modern audience in expressing individual and collective emotional states. On the one hand, text generation occurs in response to reader expectations and cultural traditions, and on the other hand, it stimulates the development of new forms of literary experimentation.
