Essay

The dissertation is a comprehensive historical-pedagogical study, within which the theoretical, content and organizational foundations of ecological-naturalistic work development in the out-of-school education institutions of North-Eastern Ukraine in the 40’s of the 20th – 20’s of the 21st century are outlined. The historiography and source base of ecological-naturalistic work in the out-of-school education institutions of the second half of the 20th – early 21st centuries are characterized. The conceptual apparatus and stages of development of the phenomenon under investigation are determined. The methodological and organizational activities of regional youth institutions were unified. The organizational foundations of ecological-naturalistic work with children and students in out-of-school education institutions of North-Eastern Ukraine in the second half of the 20th – early 21st centuries have been clarified. The results of ecological-naturalistic work in the out-of-school education institutions of the specified region were summarized and the prospects for using the specified experience in modern out-of-school education institutions at the state, regional and institutional levels were determined. The scientific novelty of the obtained results lies in the fact that for the first time in Ukrainian pedagogical science, a comprehensive study has been conducted, within the framework of which the theoretical, organizational and content foundations of the ecological-naturalistic work development in the out-of-school education institutions of North-Eastern Ukraine (1940’s – 20’s of the 21st century) have been comprehensively defined; in particular, an analysis of the historiography of the issue has been conducted, the Soviet and modern historiographic periods have been distinguished, as well as types of historiographic sources; the source base of the study has been characterized, which includes two main groups: unpublished sources (archival materials) and published sources (works of scientists and practicing teachers, statistical materials and Internet materials); the concepts of “ecological activity”, “ecological work”, “naturalistic work”, “ecological-naturalistic work”, “out-of-school education institution”, “ecological-naturalistic work in out-of-school education institutions of North-Eastern Ukraine” are clarified; the stages of development of ecological-naturalistic work in out-of-school education institutions are identified: the first stage (revival) is outlined within the boundaries of the 40’s-60’s of the 20th century; the second stage (template) falls on the 60’s-80’s of the 20th century; the third stage (progressive) is within the following chronological boundaries – from 1980 to 1999, which in turn is divided by us into two periods: the first – from 1980 to 1990 (elevation), the second – covers the period from 1991 to 1999 (crisis); the fourth stage (modernization) includes the period from 2000 to 2019. The normative-legal and program-methodological support for ecological-naturalistic work in the out-of-school education institutions of Sumy, Kharkiv and Chernihiv regions is outlined; the organizational foundations of work with children and youth in the out-of-school education institutions of North-Eastern Ukraine are clarified, its main forms (individual, group, mass) and conditions of implementation are determined; based on the generalization of the results of ecological and naturalistic work in the specified region, the prospects for using this experience in modern out-of-school education institutions at the state, regional and institutional levels are determined. Little-known documents and unpublished archival materials relating to the activities of out-of-school education institutions of the ecological-naturalistic direction of North-Eastern Ukraine within the specified chronological limits are introduced into scientific circulation, which allows for a deeper understanding of the features of their functioning and development. The practical significance of the research results is that theoretical, organizational and content foundations of the development of ecological-naturalistic work in the out-of-school education institutions of North-Eastern Ukraine (1940’s – 20’s of the 21st century) identified by the author can be used to organize and improve this work both in out-of-school and general secondary education institutions. This will contribute to improving the forms and conditions for the implementation of ecological and naturalistic work, as well as improving its program and methodological support. The materials and conclusions of the study can serve as a basis for further scientific research, expanding the content of educational courses and programs of social disciplines, in particular the history of pedagogy, methodology and theory of out-of-school education.
