Repehovych S.I. Methodology of Interactive Web Mapping of Post-Military Facilities of Historical and Cultural Heritage (Based on the Example of Lviv Region). PhD Dissertation in specialty 103 «Earth Sciences» (10 «Natural Sciences»). – Lviv Polytechnic National University, Lviv, 2025. The dissertation corresponds to the standard of specialty 103 «Earth Sciences». According to the standard, the object of activity is defined as «natural and anthropogenic objects and processes in geospheres in their interrelations, transformations, and development in space and time». Anthropogenic impacts on geospheres are connected to human activities, altering natural processes and creating new objects. Post-military facilities, as historical and cultural heritage sites, relate to anthropogenic processes that transform the natural micro-landscape of an area. Their mapping allows studying these process changes over time. Methods, techniques, and technologies supporting this standard include «physical and chemical methods; methods of field, laboratory, and remote sensing of Earth's shells; digital technologies; mathematical and statistical data analysis methods; mathematical and physical modeling of geospheric processes and properties», which directly correspond to the methods utilized in this research. The dissertation is devoted to the development and practical implementation of a methodology for interactive web mapping of post-military facilities. In the context of increasing interest in historical, cultural, and post-military heritage, digitalization and integration of geospatial data have become crucial factors in preserving, systematizing, popularizing, and researching such objects. Web mapping enables broad information 8 accessibility, convenient interaction with geospatial data, and facilitates the integration of these objects into the global information space. The objective of the research is to develop a methodology for interactive web mapping of post-military facilities and to conduct experimental research aimed at creating a web service for the post-military facilities of the Lviv region. The scientific novelty of the results consists in the development and substantiation of methodological foundations for interactive web mapping of post-military facilities in the Lviv region using geoinformation technologies. This contributes to the systematization and visualization of objects, increasing the accessibility and effectiveness of using geospatial data. The practical significance of the results obtained lies in the developed web service, which can be utilized by local historians, tourists, historians, urban planners, architects, and local community representatives for research, spatial and temporal analysis, development of historical, cultural, and military tourism, and decision-making related to the preservation and restoration of post-military facilities. The proposed methodological approaches and technological solutions can be adapted to create similar web services for other regions of Ukraine, ensuring optimal web mapping approaches and data visualization of post-military and historical-cultural objects in general. Prospects include forming a unified web mapping network for visualization of post-military heritage, taking into account regional specifics, military-historical context, typological diversity, and other factors. The first chapter explores the potential of web mapping as an effective digital tool for representing historical-cultural heritage objects. Based on the analysis of domestic projects such as «What to See – Ukraine», «Interactive Map of OUN», «Fortified Ukraine», and «Interactive Map of Castles and Fortresses», modern API solutions, responsive web design, multimedia support, and analytical tools are evaluated. Web mapping of post-military facilities is examined, and an extended definition of this concept is proposed: it is the process of using online technologies to create, analyze, and present maps visualizing historical and contemporary characteristics of objects previously used for military purposes but which have lost their original function. or been dismantled. Ukrainian scientific and practical experience in researching post-military heritage is analyzed, particularly the works of B.M. Sulyk, A.V. Melnyk, I.I. Vynnychenko, O.O. Lyubitseva, Y.I. Chykailo, M.P. Klyap, F.F. Shandor, K.A. Polyvach, Y.A. Ivanov, and B.V. Chetverikov.
