NIZHNIKOV I. Implementation of social responsibility of business in the context of sustainable regional development

Dissertation for the degree of Doctor of Philosophy in the field of knowledge 05 Social and Behavioral Sciences in the specialty 051 Economics. – Volodymyr Dahl East Ukrainian National University of the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine, Kyiv, 2025. The dissertation develops methodological and methodical approaches to socially responsible business behaviour as a factor in sustainable regional development. Social responsibility is interpreted as an activity that combines social investment, environmental sustainability, human capital development, and public-private partnerships. It is argued that financing, in particular social investment, is the main mechanism for implementing business responsibility and an instrument of financial regulation of regional socio-economic systems. Eight approaches to interpreting sustainable enterprise development and the interrelationship between the concepts of corporate social responsibility, corporate sustainability and regional development are proposed. It is proven that a sufficient level of social investment provides a comprehensive regional effect – from preventing environmental and economic damage to increasing the competitiveness of the region and local budget revenues. A set of tools for promoting social investment has been developed, including legislative support, mechanisms for interaction between the state and business, the creation of social investment products and a strategic fund for regional development. The implementation of the proposed measures will contribute to the elimination of imbalances in the economy and the formation of a model of sustainable regional development.
