Object of the study. The physical therapy process in elderly individuals with sarcopenia following liver resection for colorectal metastases. Aim of the study. To heoretically substantiate, develop, and evaluate the effectiveness of a comprehensive physical therapy program for elderly individuals with sarcopenia after liver resection due to colorectal metastases, aimed at improving functional capacity and quality of life through correction of structural and functional markers of sarcopenia, enhancement of physical performance and balance, reduction of fall risk, and improvement of nutritional status and anthropometric indicators. Research methods. Analysis and synthesis of specialized and scientific-methodological literature. Quantitative assessment was performed using the following indicators: to assess subjective condition: patients’ complaints were recorded. To assess structural and functional parameters of sarcopenia: Skeletal Muscle Index, handgrip strength, Short Physical Performance Battery, 6-Minute Walk Test, bicycle ergometer threshold load power, and fatigue perception using the EORTC QLQ-FA12 questionnaire. To assess physical fitness: Senior Fitness Test battery. To assess balance and fall risk: stabilometric assessment, Falls Efficacy Scale, Timed Up and Go test, and Tampa Scale of Kinesiophobia. To assess nutritional status: Simplified Nutritional Appetite Questionnaire and Mini Nutritional Assessment. Anthropometric assessments: body weight, body mass index (BMI), calf and arm circumference, mid-arm muscle circumference, and ultrasound assessment of rectus abdominis muscle thickness. Multifactorial quality of life assessment: SarQoL questionnaire, EORTC QLQ-C30, and SF-36 Health Survey.. Statistical analysis methods were applied to process the obtained data. Theoretical and practical significance. The study resulted in the development of a scientifically grounded comprehensive physical therapy program for or elderly individuals with sarcopenia following liver resection due to colorectal metastase. Scientific novelty. The study provides a theoretical and scientific rationale for the development of a comprehensive physical therapy for elderly individuals with sarcopenia following liver resection due to colorectal metastase.
