The relevance of the study is defined by the continuous development of the information society, the increase in Internet speed, and, consequently, digitalization in all spheres of human life, the constant increase in uncertainty and infodemia, and the impact of the events of the last seven-year period, which have led to an increase in the relevance of research on the impact of uncertainty and tolerance/intolerance to it in the context of the COVID-19 pandemic, war and military operations, extreme conditions of stay and preparation for them. The analysis of scientific approaches determined that information uncertainty can be provoked by a shortage, excess, contradiction or ambiguity of information. Three types of information uncertainty were analyzed: moderate information uncertainty at the level of the information plateau, medium information uncertainty at the level of information contradiction, high information uncertainty at the level of information gap. The main age periods were clarified and the features of thinking activity at different age stages of development, the main age-related neoplasms and the features of the influence of uncertainty in different age groups were characterized. Empirically, age differences in semantic reconstruction under conditions of information uncertainty were investigated using the “Textual Gap Methodology”. Statistically significant differences between age groups were established in terms of logical-semantic connections (ANOVA: F=4.720; p=0.001), which are characterized by a transition from semantic amorphousness to semantic logic (at the same time, a decrease in values is observed in advanced (older) age). Differences in logical-semantic connections of different age groups were proven. In general, it has been determined that information uncertainty has a significant impact on semantic reconstruction at a moderate level of uncertainty: the information plateau provides an optimal level of cognitive activity, while an average level of uncertainty (information contradictions) and an especially high level (information gaps) lead to disorganization of the comprehension process.
