Kaznacheiev M. The Specifics of Media Influence on Youth Perception of Environmental and Technogenic Risks in Wartime

The object of the study is the perception of environmental and technogenic risks by youth. The subject of the study is the influence of media on the perception of environmental and technogenic risks by youth in wartime through the specifics of information behavior. The empirical study aimed at a systemic analysis of the influence of individual differences in information behavior and the level of media exposure on the perception of a range of environmental and technogenic risks at two levels: societal (risks for others and the country as a whole) and individual (personal risks). The results can be used to develop environmental communication strategies aimed at increasing youth engagement, as well as by state authorities, media, and educational institutions for awareness campaigns during war. Findings on behavioral groups can be integrated into targeted risk-communication methodologies. Results have potential for training specialists in risk communication, environmental psychology, journalism, and social work.
