The dissertation provides comprehensive theoretical substantiation and develops scientific and methodological provisions, as well as practical recommendations, for the development of a mechanism for the growth of agro-industrial enterprises under the conditions of post-war recovery in Ukraine. The relevance of the research is determined by the need to ensure structural transformation of the agricultural sector, increase its competitiveness, restore production potential, and adapt enterprises to conditions of high uncertainty formed under the influence of war destruction, institutional changes, and integration into the European economic space. The obtained results correspond to the stated purpose and objectives of the research and reflect the provisions of scientific novelty, ensuring the formation of a holistic scientific and methodological approach to the development of agro-industrial enterprises in the post-war period.
In the course of the study, theoretical approaches to the interpretation of the development of agro-industrial enterprises were generalized, and a conceptual approach to their development under conditions of structural transformation of the economy was substantiated. Development is interpreted as a process of changing the structural position of an enterprise in the value-added creation system, taking into account the multilevel interaction of global, national, and microeconomic factors. This approach made it possible to determine that the development of agro-industrial enterprises depends not only on production dynamics but also on changes in their role in value chains, the level of technological development, integration links, and institutional conditions of functioning. As a result, the effect of a “development trap” was identified, in which growth in production, exports, and investment is not accompanied by structural modernization, leading to the consolidation of a raw-material model of the agricultural sector. Types of transformation of agro-industrial enterprise development were systematized, in particular integration, diversification, and localization, which determine alternative trajectories of their evolution under post-war economic transformation.
The essence of the development mechanism of agro-industrial enterprises has been improved by interpreting it as an adaptive open dynamic system in which development is considered as a nonlinear transformation of economic relations. It is determined that the functioning of such a mechanism is based on the interaction of resource, organizational and managerial, economic, institutional, infrastructural and logistics, and information-analytical components integrated into a unified management contour. It is substantiated that the information-analytical component acquires a system-forming significance, as it ensures coordination, synchronization, and proactive management of enterprise development under conditions of uncertainty. The proposed approach allows considering the development of agro-industrial enterprises as a process of adaptive-transformational dynamics that involves restructuring economic relations and integrating internal and external development factors.
The factors influencing the formation of the development mechanism of agro-industrial enterprises in the post-war period were systematized, and the country positioning by the type of transformation processes was carried out. It was established that macroeconomic, institutional, investment, infrastructural, technological, and war-risk factors are decisive for the formation of the development mechanism. Their interaction forms the specifics of the external environment of agro-industrial enterprises and determines the possibilities for transforming export potential. Positioning the country by the type of transformation processes made it possible to substantiate directions of structural changes in the agro-industrial sector, which involve a combination of integration and diversification development strategies, taking into account the limitations of the post-war economy. The proposed approach creates a theoretical and methodological basis for forming an adaptive development mechanism for agro-industrial enterprises.
The role of integration formations of agro-industrial enterprises as a factor of post-war economic recovery was investigated. It is substantiated that integration structures contribute to improving resource efficiency, provide access to financial and technological opportunities, and create prerequisites for cooperation and value-added formation. The relationship between the goals of economic stabilization, improving enterprise efficiency, and motives for participation in integration formations was established. It was proved that integration processes make it possible to minimize risks, increase investment activity, and ensure restoration of production infrastructure.
