The dissertation is devoted to the development of theoretical provisions, scientific and methodological approaches, and practical recommendations for managing the innovative potential of enterprises within the system of ensuring their economic security. The study integrates personnel, financial, technological, and legal components of innovative potential and substantiates mechanisms for transforming it into a source of long-term sustainability and competitiveness.
The introduction substantiates the relevance of the topic, defines the aim, objectives, subject, object, and research methods, presents the scientific novelty and practical significance of the obtained results, outlines the author’s contribution, and provides information on the approbation of findings and publications.
The first chapter, «Theoretical and Methodological Foundations of Innovative Potential Management in the Enterprise Economic Security System» systematizes scientific approaches to interpreting innovative potential and clarifies its role in the structure of enterprise economic security. The author’s definition of innovative potential is substantiated as an integrated set of personnel, financial, technological, and organizational-legal resources and managerial mechanisms capable of generating and implementing innovations in response to market and institutional challenges.
Based on a critical analysis of scientific approaches, systemic, resource-competence, and transformational approaches to understanding innovative potential are identified. It is established that under BANI-environment conditions, traditional static security models lose effectiveness, which necessitates a transition to preventive management. Particular attention is paid to the relationship between innovative potential and economic security, allowing the identification of common political, legal, and socio-cultural determinants.
The structure of innovative potential is detailed through its resource, competence, and functional components. It is proved that innovative potential acts as a link between operational efficiency and economic security by ensuring adaptability, resilience, and long-term development. A theoretical model of interaction between management objects and subjects is developed, taking into account institutional constraints and market dynamics.
The second chapter, «The State of Innovative Potential Management in the Economic Security System of Food Industry Enterprises» analyzes five food industry enterprises: Enzyme Company LLC, Kormotech LLC, Lynksel LLC, Persha Pryvatna Brovarnia LLC, and Radomyshl Brewery and Soft Drinks Plant PJSC. The study examines the structure and dynamics of R&D expenditures, the ratio of tangible and intangible innovations, staffing support for innovation activities, cooperation with scientific institutions, as well as the impact of innovation activity on time-to-market (TTM) and revenues from new products.
Based on the results obtained, two models of innovative potential management were identified: an integrated model, involving the presence of R&D units and a combination of internal and external innovations, and a decentralized model, where innovation activity is integrated into current production and managerial processes.
The analysis identified three dominant strategies of innovative development: conservative-stabilization, active-systemic, and adaptive. Enterprises implementing an active-systemic strategy demonstrate the highest rates of R&D investment, development of research competencies, and reduction of TTM to one year.
The third chapter, «Improving Innovative Potential Management in the Enterprise Economic Security System» develops methodological approaches to the systemic management of enterprise innovation activities. A comparative analysis of modern innovation project management methodologies (Agile, Scrum, Lean, Kanban, and Design Thinking) was conducted, considering their impact on enterprise economic security, which allowed determining the feasibility of their application in the food industry.
Innovative potential management was systematized according to the core management functions: planning, organizing, motivating, regulating, and controlling. A classification of innovation profiles of industry enterprises was developed, along with a questionnaire and scoring system for their identification, enabling the typology of enterprises and assessment of their position within the industry innovation environment.
A methodology for forming the Integrated Innovation Security Index of the Enterprise (IISE) was proposed, taking into account stimulating and destimulating factors, normalization of indicators, and expert weighting coefficients. The proposed toolkit forms a holistic methodological basis for the transition from fragmented decisions to systemic management of innovative potential and enterprise economic security.
