The dissertation is devoted to the development of theoretical foundations, improvement
of methodological approaches, and formulation of practical recommendations for the
implementation of innovative principles of foreign economic activity management of
Ukrainian machine-building enterprises in the context of post-war economic recovery and
integration into the European economic space. Particular attention is paid to the formation of
an institutional and infrastructural environment for export support that contributes to
strengthening the economic security and competitiveness of machine-building enterprises in
international markets.
The relevance of the research is determined by profound structural transformations of
Ukraine’s economy caused by large-scale destruction of industrial and transport infrastructure
as a result of military aggression. The machine-building industry, which traditionally plays a
key role in ensuring technological development and industrial competitiveness, has suffered
significant losses in production capacity, logistics networks, and export markets. Under these
circumstances, the restoration and further development of export activity of machine-building
enterprises becomes a strategic priority for ensuring macroeconomic stability, industrial
revival, and integration of Ukraine into global value chains.
The dissertation provides a comprehensive analysis of theoretical and methodological
approaches to the study of foreign economic activity, export economic security, and innovative
management under conditions of globalization. Scientific approaches to the interpretation of
foreign economic activity are systematized, and its role in ensuring sustainable development of
industrial enterprises is substantiated. The essence of economic security of foreign economic
activity of machine-building enterprises is clarified as their ability to maintain stability and
9
efficiency of export operations while counteracting internal and external threats under
conditions of uncertainty and post-war risks.
The evolution of state and supranational approaches to export support in the context of
globalization and European integration is examined. A comparative analysis of institutional
models of export support in Ukraine and the European Union is conducted. The study
demonstrates that effective export policy requires a combination of financial support
instruments, developed logistics and customs infrastructure, and a favorable institutional
environment for exporters.
Special attention is paid to the analysis of the current state and trends of foreign economic
activity of Ukrainian machine-building enterprises in pre-war, wartime, and post-war periods.
The dynamics of machine-building exports, changes in the geographical structure of foreign
trade, and the impact of military actions on the production and logistics potential of enterprises
are analyzed. Key challenges affecting export development are identified, including destruction
of logistics infrastructure, limited access to financial resources, exchange rate instability,
increased transportation costs, and growing competition in international markets.
The dissertation substantiates the role of the institutional environment in ensuring the
effectiveness of export activities. Export support institutions are systematized, including public
authorities, export credit agencies, chambers of commerce, international financial
organizations, digital platforms, and industrial cluster associations. Their functional roles and
mechanisms of influence on the development of foreign economic activity of machine-building
enterprises are identified.
Considerable attention is paid to the analysis of infrastructural support for exports of
machine-building products. The development of customs, logistics, transport, financial, and
digital infrastructure supporting foreign economic activity is studied. Key directions for its
transformation in the context of economic digitalization, integration into European customs
systems, and implementation of common transit procedures are determined.
The dissertation proposes a conceptual approach to assessing the level of economic
security of foreign economic activity of machine-building enterprises. The approach is based
on identifying institutional, infrastructural, financial-economic, and digital components of
export security. A system of indicators for calculating local indices is developed, and the
methodology for determining the integral indicator of export economic security is improved.
