The dissertation is devoted to solving an important scientific problem related to the advancement of the theoretical and methodological foundations and the development of an economic and managerial toolkit for the innovative development of construction development enterprises operating within an integrated project environment.
The relevance of the research is determined by the need to improve the effectiveness of innovation management in construction development under the conditions of the digital transformation of the economy, increasing complexity of interactions among participants in investment and construction projects, growing requirements for project delivery speed, efficient resource utilization, and the achievement of long-term competitiveness of enterprises. Innovative development has become an increasingly significant determinant of the competitive position of construction development enterprises in the context of economic digitalization, the growing complexity of investment and construction processes, higher requirements for project management quality, and increasing uncertainty in the external environment. The transformation of traditional value creation models in construction, the widespread adoption of digital technologies, the development of platform-based solutions, Building Information Modeling (BIM), integrated project delivery approaches, and new formats of collaboration among construction market participants necessitate a fundamental reconsideration of approaches to managing the innovative development of development enterprises. The specific nature of construction development enterprises lies in the simultaneous management of investment, organizational, technological, informational, and communication processes, the effectiveness of which largely depends on the level of coordination among investors, developers, designers, contractors, construction material manufacturers, and other project stakeholders. Under these conditions, the formation of an integrated project environment capable of ensuring the effective integration of resources, competencies, information flows, and managerial decisions within a unified value creation system becomes critically important.
Despite considerable scientific achievements in this field, the development of a comprehensive economic and managerial toolkit for the innovative development of construction development enterprises that integrates strategic management mechanisms, digital transformation, an integrated project environment, and multi-criteria selection of innovation strategies remains insufficiently explored from both theoretical and practical perspectives. Existing scientific approaches predominantly consider innovative development, project management, digitalization, and construction development as relatively independent research domains, which complicates the formation of comprehensive managerial decisions under conditions of multiple evaluation criteria, rapidly changing market environments, and the necessity to reconcile the interests of numerous stakeholders. Addressing this scientific problem requires further development of theoretical foundations and the design of new models, methods, and mechanisms for supporting strategic decision-making regarding the innovative development of construction development enterprises within an integrated project environment.
The first chapter presents a comprehensive study of the evolution of scientific approaches to the innovative development of enterprises, ranging from classical industrial concepts to contemporary models of the platform-based economy, digital ecosystems, and network-based business organization. The theoretical approaches to interpreting innovative development are generalized, its role within the system of strategic enterprise management is determined, and the specific features of innovation processes in construction development are substantiated. It is established that contemporary construction development is evolving from a model focused on coordinating individual stages of the construction cycle toward integrated value creation mechanisms based on digital technologies, collaborative project management, and the integration of key stakeholders.
The economic nature of construction development as a specific management object combining investment, organizational, technological, and managerial processes is investigated. The role of the Integrated Project Delivery (IPD) environment as a new institutional mechanism for coordinating construction project participants is substantiated. This environment ensures the synchronization of managerial decisions, reduces transaction costs, and enhances the effectiveness of implementing innovative changes. It is determined that the degree of integration among project participants constitutes an independent driver of innovative development and directly influences the performance of construction development enterprises.
