The dissertation presents a comprehensive historico-philosophical study of the principle of systematicity in the philosophy of Georg Wilhelm Friedrich Hegel, based on the material of the «Phenomenology of Spirit» as the first stage of his realization of philosophy as a system. It is argued that contemporary Hegel studies are characterized by a growing interest in identifying general approaches to the study of Hegel’s doctrine that are capable of reconciling the requirement of systematic unity with openness to a plurality of possible interpretations, while remaining consistent with contemporary methodologies. It is argued that one of the most promising such approaches today is the interpretation of Hegel’s philosophy through the principle of systematicity, which in this study is, for the first time, consistently conceptualized and proposed on the basis of its textological justification. The purpose of the dissertation is to determine the role of the principle of systematicity in the «Phenomenology of Spirit» and to employ this principle within a project aimed at justification of the hypothesis of systematicity as the foundation of the development of Hegel’s philosophical doctrine. This purpose constitutes the first step toward addressing a broader research problem: whether Hegel’s philosophy, in the period of its most complete development (1817–1831), can be interpreted through the principle of systematicity. The object of the dissertation is Hegel’s «Phenomenology of Spirit». The subject of the dissertation is the «Phenomenology of Spirit» as the beginning of Hegel’s realization of philosophy as a system.
