The Thesis analyzes the theoretical and practical principles of training future specialists in physical therapy and occupational therapy; determines the effectiveness of the developed technology for training healthcare professionals in multi-interdisciplinary teams (on the example of the master`s level).
The relevance of the research topic is due to the growing importance of interprofessional interaction in the modern healthcare system and, at the same time,
insufficiently deep disclosure of the problem of training future medical workers of higher educational institutions for interaction in multi-interdisciplinary teams in the pedagogical theory and practice of higher education.
The first chapter of the study presents the results of the analysis of theoretical issues of professional training of future healthcare professionals in higher education institutions for interaction in interdisciplinary teams.
Initiatives to train medical professionals for interaction based on the experience of European educational institutions were reviewed and summarized.
Based on the analysis of scientific and pedagogical sources, definitions based on the conducted research were clarified.
The second chapter theoretically substantiates the developed technology for training future healthcare professionals to interact in multi-interdisciplinary teams.
The structure of the technology distinguishes conceptual-orientational, content-procedural, and control-result blocks; the components of the technology for training future physical therapy and occupational therapy professionals to interact in multi-interdisciplinary teams (motivational, cognitive-activity, practice-oriented) are identified; Criteria for readiness for interaction of future physical therapy and occupational therapy specialists in multi-interdisciplinary teams have been formulated: motivational-volitional, cognitive-functional, and reflective.
The third chapter of the thesis describes the organization and conduct of a pedagogical experiment. The implementation of the author`s technology involved the integration of theoretical and practical training of future healthcare professionals, the use of a coaching approach, the case method, and e-learning tools.
The effectiveness of the implemented technology has been empirically proven.
Participants in the experimental group experienced positive changes in the levels of formation of professional knowledge, skills and abilities, internal motivation, value attitude, personal qualities necessary for interaction in multi-interdisciplinary teams.
The scientific novelty lies in the fact that for the first time:
- A technology for training future healthcare professionals in specialty 227 «Physical Therapy and Rehabilitation» (physical therapy, occupational
therapy) for interaction in multi-interdisciplinary teams has been developed and theoretically substantiated, which includes conceptual-orientational,
content-procedural, and control-result blocks.
- Сriteria and indicators of readiness of future healthcare professionals for interaction in multi-interdisciplinary teams (motivational-volitional, knowledge-functional, reflective) have been determined.
- The effectiveness of using case studies based on real clinical situations, interactive sessions with a coach using, the ICF.
- The author`s definition of the process of «interaction of future healthcare professionals in multi-interdisciplinary teams» is proposed as a system of
professional relationships and collaborative practice amongst healthcare professionals.
- The meaning of the concepts of «future healthcare professionals», «multi-interdisciplinary team», «educational technology», and others in the context
of professional training of future physical therapy and occupational therapy specialists has been clarified.
- The practical significance of the research results is that the developed and scientifically substantiated technology has undergone experimental testing
and confirmed its effectiveness.
- The theoretical provisions and practical developments set out in the thesis can be used by scientific and pedagogical workers in the educational
process of higher educational institutions during the training of masters in educational and professional programs of specialty 227 «Physical Therapy
and Rehabilitation» (physical therapy, occupational therapy), can also be adapted to clinical disciplines, and to clinical practice at bases.
