Essay

The thesis studies the clinico-immunologic features of the cerebral gliomas of different malignancy. On the basis of MR tomography given to 128 cerebral glioma patients, the size of a tumor perifocal area has been found to depend on both tumor localization and malignancy grade. It has been established that the changes taken place in the immune system are dependent on the perifocal area size. The cell immunity is suppressed and the humoral immunity is enhanced more considerably in big (over 5 sq. cm) perifocal areas than in small ones. Neurospecific enolase contant in blood and liquor is seen to be increased, especially when the perifocal areas are big.
