Essay

Thesis is devoted to the problem of endovascular treatment of cerebral arteriovenous malformations (AVM) of frontal lobe. We elaborated a new liquid embolic composition for increasing effectiveness and radicality of exclusion which has been patented as "Embolin". Endovascular embolization has been done in 75 patients with AVM of frontal lobe. Analysis of all postembolization angiograms demonstrated total occlusion of AVM in 32 cases, subtotal - in 39, partial - in 4 cases. Improvement of endovascular surgical intervention methodics with usage of "Embolin" permitted to increase radicality of occlusion of AVM by 30%, to reduce number of repeated interventions - by 50%. Endovascular occlusion of cerebral AVM of frontal lobe may be considered as an alternative to surgical intervention in cases of deeply situated, widely spread lesions and AVM located in functionally important zones.
