The mathematical model of working process and output indexes of a engine is improved and a procedure of definition of an optimum extent of a exhaust gas recirculation is designed. For realization of procedure is improved mathematical model of movement of the automobile and is carried out experimental researchs on switching - off of group of cylinders of a engines and application of a exhaust gas recirculation, that allows to define an optimum extent of a recirculation, which ensures least summary toxisity, reduced to ejections of an oxide of carbon, at constant economic and ecological indexes. The value of an optimum extent of a recirculation for different loadings and regimes of work is obtained, which makes about 5 %.
