Essay

In this work the energy approach to the problem of stability of thin-walled structures is being further developed. The object of investigation is the cylindrical panels under suddenly applied pressure of different ways of application. The goal of investigation was a development of simplified methods of these structures calculation without use of complicated differential equations. A simple-to-use criteria of buckling under suddenly applied load is obtained. The existence of construction defects in a form of initial geometrical imperfections and change in panel thickness caused by corrosion is taken into account. The problem of stability of composite cylindrical shell of fibre content is also considered where the structure is subject to a linearly increasing impulse.
