Essay

Investigation object: corn, potato. Investigation purpose: Investigation methods: biochemistry. Theoretical and practical results, novelty: It has been found that exposition of intact plants to near-threshold doses of Nі2+ and Cu2+ causes increase of synthesis of various classes of RNA. A system of the closed cells nucles showed decrement of RNA synthesis. Influence of the maximal near-threshold doses of Cu2+ and Ni2+ on the plants of corn causes quantitative, qualitative and some metal-specific changes in the intensity of color of some protein strips comparing to the control series. It is supposed that "barring" function of a root has formed as a selective protection mechanism against the most cito-toxic species of soil. It has been found that comparative phyto-toxicity of the heavy metals' ions can be shown as following sequence: Cd2+>Cu2+>Co2+>Nі2+>Cr3+> >Sr2+; and their comparative citotoxicity as the sequence: Cr3+"Cd2+"Cu2+>Nі2+іCo2+>Sr2+. Maximal near-threshold dose of Cd2+, Cu2+ і Ni2+ to be 0 ,4 mM. Degree of application: it is planned. Sphere (area) of application: biochemistry and physiology of plants, biotechnology, molecular biology.
