Essay

The object is electron-electron interactions in crystals with narrow energy bands. The aim is a description of electron correlations in generalized Hubbard model with correlated hopping and an interpretation of the peculiarities of physical properties of crystals with narrow energy bands. The methods are modern methods of solid state theory, in particular the generalized Hartree-Fock approximation within the Green function technique. The quasiparticle energy spectrum of the model is derived. The consistent description of metal-insula- tor transition in paramagnetic phase is done. The dependence of correlation effects on elecron concentration is studied. The important role of correlated hopping is poited out.The scopes of application are metalphysics, material sciences, electronics.
