Essay

The thesis is devoted to the theory of representations of *-algebras by operators in Hilbert spaces. Some criteria of existence of faithful representation of *-algebra by bounded operators and some sufficient conditions of properness of *-algebra given by generators and relations are given. Construction of enveloping C*-algebra of *-algebra and its application to the study of representations by unbounded operators are presented. The classifications of representations of some deformations of associative enveloping algebra of su(2) are given. The description of spectra of C*-algebras of simple dynamical systems is given.
