Essay

This dissertation is the first systematic and comprehensive investigation of animal character and symbolical system of the Ukrainian folklore. In the work the author elucidates the specific features of zoomorphic character system, explains the reasons of universality of zoo-symbol and elaborates the method of analysis of individual animals character. The semantic field of the image of the cuckoo is defined in accordance with the elaborated, plan and basic motifs and stories with participation of the cuckoo are explained.
