The dissertation is devoted definition of the contents and essence of concept of political system, its structure, basic functions, research of types of political systems and basic principles of their organization. The paper proves the necessity of the further perfection of legal base for maintenance of democratic changes in political system of the Ukrainian society, and also the need in systematic reforming of its basic institutes and elements, which consists in the increase of a role of civil organizations.
