Essay

This dissertation is the first system-comprehensive investigation of Ukrainian prymovka. Prymovka is a separate, independent genre of the Ukrainian folklore, that actively exists and dynamically develops in country-side as well as in townsfolk - in contrast to many others genres of traditional Ukrainian folklore. Genre relations of the prymovka with the charms, the ritual poetry, the proverbs, the by-words cause coincidences in the structure and poetics of these genres.
