Thesis is designed to study prevalence, risk factors of distal forearm fractures and their dependence upon age, sex, season, meteorological conditions and structural-functional state of bone tissue. It was found that occurrence of distal forearm fractures in men does not differ with age, while in post-menopausal women it starts to increase. Stiffness index and other ultrasound parameters of structural-functional bone state were proved to decrease lea-ding to aggravated risk and increased number of osteoporotic distal forearm fractures. Capacities of ultrasound densitometry in prognostication of fractures were revealed. Efficacy of active vit. D metabolites in correction of structural-functional bone changes of patients.
