Essay

Research subjects: processes of form-building and inheriting of morphobiologic properties. Research objectives: investigation of biologic and morphogenetic peculiarities of the species and varieties of Canna. Methods: morphological and cytological analysis, field-experiment, inbreeding, hybridization, dispersal, regressive and so on. Theoretical and practical results: peculiarities of the germination of seed, rhythm of growth, development of plant and biology of flowering have been revealed, original description has been given to the phases of the shoot system development for the introduction varieties, inbreeding in three generation was used with purpose of obtaining the pure lines of subsequently selected high-ornamental low-growth forms, 5 forms of them are candidates for new varieties. Novel ty of the introduced: the morphogenetic qualitative heterogeneity of the industrially obtained planting material was determined. For the first time inbreeding in three generation was used in selection of Canna with purpose of obtaining the pure lines of variety A.Wendgausen; a scale for evaluating Canna's flower colour has been worked out, on which basis it becomes possible to carry out authentic parametrical assessment of a qualitative property. For the first time the cytogenetic peculiarities of parent forms and hybrids were revealed and structural organization of chromosomes were determined. Implementation degree: the gene pool of Canna's including 49 species, varieties and forms has been created. On its basis biologic peculiarities of plant are explored and breeding works are carried on. Five advantageous forms have been singled out, as candidates for new varieties. The variety 'Apofeos' has been put on variety trial on the State scale. 100 thousands propagated root of Canna's varieties was given for plant verdure. Effectiveness: obtained results will allow: to accelerate the process of Canna's selection, to give possibility of influencing on the uniformity of plant's height and blossoming, if Canna is cultivat ed according to proposing classification of planting material, to rise out put of plant material for 8-10 times per one plant in industrially floricultural. Sphere, sector of implementation: botany, selection, citogenetic, industrial floricultural, plant verdure.
