Essay

Object: electric conductivity of oil as a factor of diagnosing wear resistance and durability of machine parts. Purpose: improve the performance of machine parts by diagnosing their deterioration and durability through the electric conductivity of oil. Methods: analytical method for theoretic research; experimental method using modern techniques, mathematical statistics and computer technology for laboratory and operational research. Theoretical and practical results: obtained is the mathematical model establishing a relation between the intensity of deterioration of machine parts and the electric conductivity of the lubricating oil. The obtained research results will allow improving performance of machines through diagnosing deterioration and durability of their parts, as well as more efficient use of lubricants. Novelty: in the course of the research, mathematical dependence between the intensity of deterioration and the electric conductivity of oil is established and experimentally corroborated; onits basis, a methodology of diagnosing deterioration and durability of machine parts and service life of oil is developed. Extent of implementation: the suggested method is planned to be introduced at the locomotive depot "Oktyabr" of the Southern Railroad, as well as to be used for academic purposes.
