The objects -species of genus Crocus L. The thesis is devoted to complex population-biological research of genus Crocus L. species in the Ukrainian Carpathians. Intra- and interpopulation variability of characters of vegetative and reproductive organs is researched. Chorology, ecological and phytocoenotic attachments, ontogenesis of species are studied. Problems of reproductive biology of species are elucidated, research of age and vital structure, density and productivity of populations are carried out. Causes of reduction of its area are established; measures of protection of its gene pools and prospects of use are suggested.
