Essay

The efficiency of the surgical treatment of hydrocephalus in newborns and infants is investigated according to the presence of complications, cerebrospinal fluid pressure stabilization in early postoperative period and to life quality of the patients in the removal period. Prognostic value of various factors is determined (etiology, form, grade of hydrocephalus manifestation, accompanying cerebral lesions) for prospective development of babies after shunting procedures. Morphological peculiarities of cerebral tissue changes are investigated in progressive hydrocephalus and prerequisites of recovery of cerebral functions after hydrocephalus stabilization. Correlation has been established between cerebral structural changes (according to computer tomography data in dynamics) and clinical rehabilitation of psycho-neurological disorders. The algorithm of surgical treatment of hydrocephalus in children under one year has been elaborated.
