Essay

The Ukrainian delegation's activity in Brest-Litovsk, January-February 1918, for the first time in historiography has been shown as а peace conference on its own, parallel and independent from the simultaneous negotiations conducted by delegations of the Soviet Russia. For the first time it was documentary proved and demonstrated that the Ukrainian diplomats successfully defended Ukrainian political, territorial, and economic interests. It has been shown that the peace treaty signed by the Ukrainian People's Republic with the Quadruple alliance on February 9, 1918, was formulated on the basis of the Ukrainian draft, and its effects prolonged life of the Ukrainian state and its struggle for independence.
