An investigation is underway to identify the mechanisms, at the catchment scale, that control the migration of 90Sr from watershed soils to surface water bodies within a small watershed. Contributing pathways that are considered include ground-water transport, overland flow, and surface connection between the Borschi stream and the wetlands. The 90Sr-flux in the Borschi stream is higher during snowmelt and storm events than during baseflow conditions. Evidence is presented that suggests the wetlands and seasonally-flooded soils are currently the main source of 90Sr in the Borschi stream.
