Gusti M. Mathematical Modelling the Carbon Budget of Ecosystems of the Carpathian Region of Ukraine

Mathematical models of the carbon cycle in ecosystems of the Carpathian Region of Ukraine, which take into account features of the region, are developed. Carbon flows between the model blocks and their dependencies on environmental factors are analysed. Algorithms and program tools for carrying out the numerical experiments and analysis of the developed mathematical models and results of the modelling are elaborated. Simulations of the influence of different scenarios of climate change and modes of natural resources usage on the carbon budget of the region ecosystems are carried out. It was revealed that cropland ecosystems of the region are the most vulnerable, and the forest ecosystems are the least vulnerable. It is shown that choosing corresponding mode of resource usage allows decreasing or even avoiding the carbon loss by the ecosystems.
