Ivanova L. Community-acquired bacterial pneumoniae in infants (diagnostic and prognostic criteria, evaluation of the treatment efficacy).

The dissertation deals with the efficiency of diagnostics, treatment and prognosis of community-acquired bacterial pneumoniae in infants on the basis of their complex examination on admission to the inpatient department. According to the obtained clinico-laboratory findings of community-acquired bacterial pneuumoniae a constellation diagnostic table has been drawn up, making it possible to disclose bacterial pneumonia or viral infection of the lower respiratory tract in infants on admission to the inpatient department. Clinical and laboratory risk indices of preserving the severity of infants general condition, suffering from bacterial pneumonia, while treating them at an inpatient department have been proposed. It is advisable to use them while instituting a rational treatment policy on hospital admission. A highly effective method of prospective evaluation of forescen treatment efficacy of patients with bacterial pneumonia on the basis of taking into account the availability of risk factors of preserving the severity of the general condition, detected on admission of an infant to the inpatient department, has been elaborated.
