Stryzhak V. Geological structure of the Central part of Dnieper-Donets riftogen and its petroleum potential

The peculiarities of geological structure, sedimentation environment, geotectonic development, and regularities of petroleum reserves distribution in the Central part of DDR are featured in this study. It has been delineated the Central Block of DDR, and 8 mezo-blocks of different orientation and 19 local blocks disturbed by faults have been recognized using available geological and geophysical data and analysis of the wells. The hierarchy of blocks has been studied too. It was compiled a map on the top of Pre-Carboniferous sediments for the Central Block of DDR and a map of petroleum reserves for the above blocks of 1:200000 scale. An application of the adapted technique has been resulted for the first time for this region in probabilistic evaluation of the hydrocarbon resources of the area studied and the figures have been rectified using improved estimation techniques. The results of hydrocarbon resources evaluation are follows: for Tournaisian-Lower Carboniferous they are greater on 42.1% comparingwith volumetric technique, and down for Upper Visean one on 7.8%, for Serpukhovian one on 9.4%, for Middle Carboniferous one on 27.2%, and on 46.2% for Upper Carboniferous-Lower Permian complex. It is formulated recommendations to the practice and top-priority directions for oil and gas exploration and further steps for effective development and exploitation of energy resource of Ukraine are determined.
