Essay

It was investigated the total heparin-binding activity of proteins (HBAP) in the newborn and adult rat brain by solid and histochemical carbohydrate-enzyme analysis. Present data suggest that HBAP is distinctive feature for different brain structures, which depend on age and sex and change under the low dose irradiation. It was first found that some heparin-binding proteins of newborn rat brain belong to the nuclear skeleton of proliferated and migrated neuronal cells. We isolated two heparin-binding membranassociated proteins from newborn rat brain with Mr 19 and 28 kD by chromatography and electrophoresis. The work comprises data about influence of low dose 131I and low dose fractionated and acute total X-irradiation to HBAP in the brain of newborn and adult rats. Field of implementation: laboratory biochemistry
