Nykonenko P. The peculiarities of treatment of systemic osteoporosis in people of older age groups

Study was undertaken on the osteoporosis prevalence among the inhabitants of a large Ukrainian city, depending on their age and sex. Needs for the antiresorptive drugs for them as well as for the patients of a specialized orthopedic department were assessed. The possibilities and effectiveness of a new biologically active product "Biocosmovit" in treatment of patients with postmenopausal and senile osteoporosis and оsteopenia have been proved. The usefulness of enterosorbents, in particular enterosgel, in complex therapy of osteoporosis has been shown. A long-term study, first in Ukraine, over the patients with systemic osteoporosis treated with alendronat was carried out, resulting in the elaboration of effective and economically advantageous schemes for its administration. A differential approach to the treatment of patients of different age and sex groups, with an account being taken of pain syndrome severity, has been proposed.
