Essay

The dissertation is devoted to the study of an electron transport through double-barrier tunneling structures. It was shown that with an account for a dynamic charge accumulation in an interbarrier space the generation of two type current self-oscillations is possible. Conditions for a transition to a chaotic state and the ways to suppress the chaos have been found. The influence of dissipative processes on the properties of the tunneling system has been analyzed. The expression for the Green's function of a quantum well with degenerate states with an account of intrawell Coulomb repulsion has been derived. It was shown that at low temperatures the charge accumulation in the well is a step-like function of an applied bias. The temperature increase leads to smoothing of steps.
