Essay

The dissertation is devoted to gaining more profound insight into the inter-relation of the characteristics of structure material and characteristics of acoustic emission (AE) signals and improvement of methodology of AE testing of welded metal structures. The work is aimed at solving the problems of development of high-effective resource-saving technologies for ensuring the safe service of welded shell structures, which belong to the category of highly critical. The causes for failure of shell structures, methods of their control and diagnostics are analyzed in the dissertation. Conditions of excitation of acoustic emission are considered and analysis of the influence of various factors on its parameters is carried out.
