Objects - beech forest in Podolian Upland. The thesis presents the results of ecological and coenotical studies of Fagus sylvatica L. in Podolian Upland. The problems of distribution and ecological attachment of Fagus sylvatica have been elucidated. The islulare localization of beech forest at the eastern margin of the area is emphasized. Biomorphological analysis of the leaves of Fagus sylvatica proved its belonging to the subspecies Fagus sylvatica subsp. moesiaca (Maly) Czeсzott. The floristic characteristics of beech forests were desribed. The spectrums of ontogenetic states in populations of Fagus sylvatica in Podolian Upland were defined. Recommendation for improvement of conservation of beech communities in Podolian Upland are proposed.
