Essay

The object of study - the figure of Arakcheyev, his political career and personal life. The purpose of study is the complex analysis of state activity and personal life of O.A. Arakcheyev, definition of the basic features of the person, establishment of features of his administrative manner, definition of the main characteristics of a figure of Arakcheyev as state figure and as man. The methods used in the research are: anthrop-center approach with elements of the culturology analysis, system approach. The practical value of the dissertation consists in use of results of research for preparation of scientific works, lecture, normative and specialized courses on history of Russia of the end XVIII - first half XIX century. The dissertation presents the study of private life and political activity of count Oleksiy Andriyovych Arakcheyev, a prominent statesman of the Russian empire of the beginning of 19 A.D. The set of factors that influenced the formation of his personality and professional qualities isdefined. His contribution to the development of the Russian army, artillery in particular, is analyzed. Special emphasis is laid onto his role in implementation and management of military settlements. The work also focuses on Arakcheyev's psychological traits, aesthetic preferences, economic and social activities. The research resulted into a new approach to his life and activities' estimation as well as rebuffing a few unjust accusations existing in historiography.
