Essay

The unique properties of ionic liquids were analyzed and ionic liquids’ applications as thermal fluids and absorbents has been discussed by comparing with traditional working fluids. Limiting activity coefficients and partial molar excess enthalpies at infinite dilution of 38 organic solutes in ionic liquids have been measured by gas-liquid chromatography using the ionic liquids as stationary phase For measurements of activity coefficients in the whole range of concentrations a new procedure based on the so-called transpiration method have been developed. Vapor pressures and enthalpies of vaporization of 39 organic compounds were determined. Activity coefficients for 8 binary mixtures of organic solutes with ionic liquid are presented. The results were described with NRTL-model. А new method of the ionic liquids’ thermophysical properties (density, capacity, thermal conductivity and viscosity) prediction, using a limited initial information, was suggested.
