In the thesis, on the basis of complex study of urian calendarian ritual creativity (proverbs, sayings, believes, ritual songs), hagiographical literature, iconography there was investigated genealogy of St. Uriy's snake-fighter image. There was traced the evolution of his imagemaking in Ukrainian folklore and literature from mythological believes to folk-poetic and fictional aesthetization of the image. Besides this, there was identified the specifics of urian songs as structural unit, which doesn't fit into the commonly accepted system of genres, there was explained the aesthetical core.
