Essay

The peculiarity of the phase behavior of divalent-metal alkanoates (СnН2n+1СОО)2М, where have been studied, and their mesophase and glass formation regions have been determined. The phase behavior of 15 binary systems based on lead and cadmium decanoates has been studied. The temperature and concentration ranges of the LC and glasses existence have been determined. The temperature dependence of optical absorption spectra of Co2+, Ni2+, Cu2+ ions in a melt, mesophase, and liquid-crystalline glass of binary systems based on mono-, di- and trivalent metal decanoates has been studied.
