Essay

The corrosion behaviour in 3% NaCl solution, imitating the marine water, of TiNx compacted samples of various composition as for nitrogen (in the homogeneity region), individual TiB2, TiB2 - TiN - and AlN - based binary composite materials as well as Ni-P and Co-P protective coatings on the carbon-containing steel was studied. The electrolytic oxidation of TiВ2-AlN and TiB2-TiN ceramics proved to be a multi-stage process, the kinetic characteristics of anode oxidation was ascertained, and both chemical and phase composition of different scale layers was identified using an Auger spectroscopy method.
