Essay

The modern application of series of lunar star occultations which serve as original reference points in the coordination of celestial and terrestrial reference systems and time scales is considered. The results of 25 thousand observations of lunar occultations on 79 stations of the former USSR territory in 1963-2003 were included to the Kyiv database. The database gives a possibility to obtain proper motion of HIPPARCOS catalogue system as well as corrections to data system of the Ch. Watts' maps of Moon's marginal zone, to reveal a whole series of stars, which are suspected in duplicity, to confirm duplicity of some stars, and to determine parameters of some multiple star systems on certain epoch.
