Essay

The features of ethnic identity of student's youth of Ukraine are theoreticaly proved and empirically investigated. It has been proved that interethnic interaction make an effect on the types of transformation of ethnic indentity at the representatives of both ethnic groups. It has been established, that hypo-indentity takes the second position after norm type of transformation of ethnic self-consciousness. It has been shown that there are significant regional differences in psychological features of ethnic identity. It has been proved that the ethnic identity of the student of Eastern and Southern regions which define themselves as Ukrainians have more problematic character than ethnicaly Russian students, for them their own ethnic belonging is less unequivocal. It has been shown that in the system of social identity the own ethnic belonging of the respondents is located on periphery of self-consiousness. It has been shown, that affective component of ethnic identity has an ambivalent character, and cognitive one is characterized by inconsistency and discrepancy. The interrelation between types of transformation of ethnic identity and modalities of the self-attitude of the person are established.
