Essay

The physical and chemical properties of complex compounds of Ru(II),(III),(IV), Ir(III),(IV) and Pt(IV) with triphenylmethane dyes (TPhMD). The establishment of a new Ru, Ir, Pt compounds with TPhMD; UV-visible spectroscopic investigation of Ru, Ir and Pt complex formation with TPhMD; the elaboration of a new rapid, sensitive and selective methods of ruthenium determination in the presence of noble metals. UV-visible spectroscopy, IR-spectroscopy, X-ray diffractometry. The new methods of a spectrophotometric determination of ruthenium in the presence of noble metals have been elaborated and tested. The proposed methods are rapid, sensitive, selective and allow the determination of ruthenium in the different oxidation state Ru(II),(III),(IV). UV-visible spectroscopic investigation of a noble metals complex formation with TPhMD (chrome azurol S (XAS), eriochrome cyanine R (ER), xylenol orange (XO) and pirocatechine violet) has been carried out. The existence of a new color complex compounds of Ru(ІІ),(ІІІ),(ІV), Ir(IV) and Pt(IV) with the ХАS, ЕR and ХО has been established. The complex of ruthenium(II) with xylenol orange has been extracted in the solid state for the first time; the formation of a novel crystal structure has been confirmed by X-ray diffractometric studies; the results of the IR-spectroscopic studies permit us to suggest the structure of the complex compound. The TPhMD are used for a sensitive determination of ruthenium(II),(III),(IV) in the presence of noble metals. The methods could be applied in analytical laboratories of the metallurgy and jewelry industries for control of their production, and for the standardization of ruthenium compounds.
